Job Description
As the Special Education Coordinator, you will be responsible for the development, implementation, and coordination of Special Education services within the Riverfront School and Career Center for both middle and high school-aged at-risk youth. You will assess the educational needs of each student, reviewing IEPs, 504 plans, and other testing results, to help develop goals and interventions for students. You will teach classes in small group formats as well as one-on-one instruction when appropriate. You will also provide training to Riverfront School staff on best practices for working with youth on IEP or 504 plans and coordinate special education services with local school districts.
This position is a regular, ongoing position that runs annually from mid-August to mid-June, breaking for summer and returning in the fall. Staff are placed on involuntary leave from mid-June to mid-August and are eligible for unemployment insurance. Medical benefits are covered during involuntary leave. If funding becomes available for mid-June to mid-August there is a potential for 12 months of employment.

People who excel in this role have a minimum of two years of experience teaching or working with special needs youth. Candidates with a Bachelor's degree in Special Education and/or those who are currently enrolled in a Master's program leading to a Special Education Endorsement are encouraged to apply. You must be a certified teacher in the State of Oregon.
