Job Description

Treasure House provides a supportive living environment where young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) can participate in their community, achieve independence, and realize their purpose. The organization’s vision maintains that all adults, regardless of their abilities, will be active and valued members in their community.

The Resident Life Coach is responsible for leading and supporting their resident's community life at Treasure House including goal setting, programs, activities, safety, and community inclusion based on resident centered programming. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Safety and Well-being

  • Oversee and assist residents in developing personal and professional goals. 
  • Work to increase the resident’s life skills through vocational and recreational opportunities by developing and implementing a comprehensive plan that creates learning opportunities. 
  • Conduct social and life skills training in the community through coaching and development in real world scenarios such as shopping, appointments, and other activities.
  • Provide coaching through challenging situations by being aware of resident attitudes, challenges they are experiencing and/or behavioral changes. 
  • In collaboration with the Community Assistants, help the residents to navigate internal and external concerns and relationships, both professional and personal.
  • Ensure the well-being of residents by building professional relationships with both the resident and their families, while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Ensure resident medication compliance is in alignment with Treasure House policy such as: assessment for support, medication refills, doctor's orders are followed, med sets are filled accurately, and med changes are communicated.
  • Address and resolve urgent situations by actively seeking problem resolutions such as therapeutic or alternative solutions that consider the safety and welfare of the residents as a top priority.
  • Report to the appropriate leadership team member any issues or concerns related to the following: residence, resident, employee fleet vehicle, meal planning, residential schedules, policies, procedures and incidents.
  • Ensure closed loop communication with Community Assistants to help directly support residents in various aspects of their life at Treasure House and in the community.
  • Assist the Resident Experience and Operations Officer in apartment readiness and trial stay preparations for incoming residents. 

Independence

  • Documentation of progress, accomplishments, activities, issues and concerns in support of resident goals as put in place by the resident. 
  • Ensure residents stay engaged in life skills, vocational and recreational programming that creates development and learning opportunities.
  • Coordinate and complete bi-annual and annual reviews for each resident and invite all parties who are relevant.
  • Participate in new resident accommodation plan meetings and complete planning documents to prepared team members and family for incoming residency. 

Community

  • Oversight and compliance with resident behaviors while in the community to include the following: maintain set budget as relayed by life coach, use appropriate language, manners, spatial awareness and voice projection.
  • Report weekly resident transportation needs to the Community Assistant Manager for scheduling purposes.
  • Ability to transport residents to and from daily vocational, day programming or school and recreational events as scheduled on the daily resident transportation log using authorized company vehicles.
  • Attend appointments with residents and provide support and advocacy as needed. Also responsible for relaying any pertinent information to relevant parties involved in the resident's care and support services. 
  • Conduct a professional and knowledgeable manner consistent with the Treasure House mission and brand in all interpersonal and public interactions.
  • Committed to serving as a positive ambassador who advocates for the organization and its residents.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The Treasure House Resident Life Coach must possess and exhibit:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology or equivalent work experience
  • 21+ years of age
  • Valid Arizona Driver’s License and clean driving record with at least 3 years of driving experience
  • Must clear full background check (including but not limited to criminal history check and Motor Vehicle Report)

Preferred: 

  • 2 years’ experience supporting persons with IDD
  • Recreational therapy planning / Activities coordinator experience
  • First aid, CPR, Food handler's and Article 9 Current Certifications (must have 30 days after hire - training can be provided)
  • Arizona DPS Fingerprint Clearance Card (must have within 30 days after hire)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Adjusting or moving objects up to 50 pounds in all directions occasionally. 
  • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing occasionally.
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one location to another occasionally.
