Mechanic - Conroe, TX
Basic Function: Maintains all mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and control equipment throughout the plant and office safely and effectively, to meet organization requirements.
This position is a safety-sensitive position and requires a clear mind and diligence. The employee has the responsibility for his/her safety as well as the safety of others.
Shift : Days
Principle Activities and Responsibilities:
- Performs all maintenance, including but not limited to preventative, corrective, emergency, contracted, and warranty service on all equipment throughout the region. (3 different sites)
- Identifies, repairs, and documents electrical and instrumentation equipment malfunctions. Discuss software problems in PLC for equipment operation and control with Facility Managers as required.
- Conducts predictive analysis of all systems and equipment periodically to update the PM system.
- Schedules services and planned repairs with manager to accommodate routing schedules
- Responsible for parts ordering and sourcing for parts related to repairs.
- FMCSA Annual inspection and Air Brake Adjustment certified
- Ensures completion of work orders based on schedule and priority or as required.
- Flexible and able to move from task to task as needed and pending parts availability
- Monitors equipment regularly and documents results. Maintains record keeping of all R&M performed to equipment.
- Installs and tests new equipment by manufacturer's recommendations and standard safety procedures.
- Supports all company and corporate policies and procedures.
- Performs any general work or other assignments necessary to ensure the safe, clean, and efficient operation of the facility.
- If no work will ask managers and assist where needed.
- Works in extreme weather heat, cold, and rain.
- Capable of doing repairs mobile as well as in the shop
- Communicates with drivers and operators about concerns with equipment
- Proficient with diagnostic software
- Able to diagnose and understand failures of parts
- Must maintain organized and accurate status reports for parts requistions
- Maintain records to ensure complete and timely payment of invoices
- Scheduling any repairs with sub contractors and 3 rd party fleet management
- Tire Expertise: “Proficient in identifying various tire types, understanding tire specifications, and assessing tire wear and damage.”
- Tire Maintenance Skills: “Skilled in performing routine tire maintenance, including checking tire pressure, rotating tires, and balancing wheels.”
- Tire Replacement: “Experienced in safely and efficiently changing tires, including the use of jacks, lug wrenches, and torque wrenches to ensure proper installation.”
- Problem-Solving: “Adept at diagnosing and resolving common tire-related issues, such as punctures, leaks, and alignment problems.”
- Safety Practices: “Committed to following all safety protocols during tire changes and maintenance to prevent accidents and ensure vehicle safety.”
- Possesses a comprehensive understanding of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, including but not limited to hours of service, vehicle maintenance, driver qualifications, and safety standards.
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing, equipment and commercial vehicles maintenance and operation.
- Minimum 2 years of experience with hydraulic-powered units.
- Experience in troubleshooting and repair of flow meters, PLCs, VFDs, transmitters, motors, switchgear, and other process control equipment. Ability to comprehend and interpret blueprint drawings and documents.
- Must meet the assessment requirements.
- Possess knowledge required to monitor the performance of equipment.
- Must understand all safety requirements and other communications.
- If needed, must be able to stand for the duration of the shift.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds frequently.
- Bending, reaching, twisting, stooping, walking frequently
- Good sight and hearing to avoid hazards.
- Must be able to communicate.
- Must be able to function in the required role while wearing appropriate PPE including, but not limited to seat belts, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat, and others as may be required by a hot/cold, industrial environment.
- Must meet all physical requirements of the position.
- Spanish speaking is a plus
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS :
- Must be able to work around smells and strong odors (ammonia).
- Must be able to work in extreme outside temperatures both hot and cold.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Must be able to pull own weight to enter and exit the cab of vehicle and equipment.
- Must be able to sit for extended periods while driving equipment.
- May be required to stand and be on feet for extended periods.
