Position Purpose: This position will be responsible for assisting in the developing, operating, and maintaining Geographic Information System (GIS). Supporting the operations by keeping the GIS system current, supporting staff that use GIS, and training. Responsible for adhering to standards for GIS systems. Producing GIS files and outputs for mapping, operations, engineering projects, and presentations. Responsible for collecting and maintaining GPS data for all operations under the business unit. Primary Duties/Responsibilities: Assist in the development and maintenance of the GIS including updating geometry and attributes to reflect system updates. Assist with field data collection as needed. Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team driven environment. Train and support field staff and contractors on mobile devices, GIS maps and GPS technology. Update GIS data using information provided by GPS data collection and in EAM systems such as CityWorks, INFOR, or KloudGin. Adhere to standards for GIS systems, including but not limited to databases, applications, and training programs. Create and maintain web applications and dashboards to support operational needs and report to leadership. Enhance and promote the utilization of GIS within the business unit. Assist in database cleanup and readiness activities for Esri Utility Network Implementation. Qualifications Education/Experience/Background: Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, Engineering, Environmental Science, Data Science, or related field. 0 - 3 years GIS experience; entry level experience with Esri Product Suite. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Experience editing GIS data in a versioned geodatabase. Experience in editing and querying GIS databases, building descriptive and cartographically sound maps, geocoding, and spatial analysis. Familiarity with mobile data collection and GPS techniques. Knowledge of cartography, coordinate systems, map projections, and topology. Knowledge of GIS automation, scripting and languages such as ArcPy, Python and Arcade is a plus. Ability to split time between office work and medium-duty field work such as GPS data collection of assets and be outdoors for several hours per day. Must have the ability to drive a company vehicle.
