We are seeking a positive, self-starting individual with excellent problem-solving abilities and strong communication skills that will demonstrate an ability to work on highly dynamic and interactive projects both independently and as part of a team. This individual should have a strong technical background in GIS, data management, and a general understand of, and interest in, environmental modeling. Your Role: GIS data creation- digitization, conversion of non-spatial data, editing, and standardization/compilation GIS data management - organize and structure spatial data files on servers and in various database types, and maintain data versioning as needed Create and maintain ESRI map/feature services in support of ocean use planning and other initiatives QA/QC both geospatial and tabular data Integrate geospatial environmental data and numerical models by researching, gathering, and preparing input data for use in modeling software Convert and integrate gridded and vector data from various sources as model inputs Use/enhance/develop tools to analyze, interpret, and present model results Prepare report quality figures/maps of model inputs and results Perform modeling studies using proprietary model software Prepare technical reports Qualifications: Graduate degree in a field such as GIS, engineering, oceanography, biology, or other environmental science with at least 1 year of relevant professional GIS experience, OR undergraduate degree and at least 3 years of relevant professional GIS experience (consulting experience preferred) Proficient with ESRI ArcGIS suite, including ArcGIS Desktop (10.x), Pro, and extensions such as Spatial Analyst Familiar with standard GIS formats: ESRI shapefiles, geodatabases, various raster formats Experience in the creation of GIS data, data management, and QA/QC Cartographic experience including the design of maps for reports, the web, posters, etc. Basic GIS Programming/Scripting experience in Python - ability to read and make modifications to existing scripts Strong problem solving, organizational, and time management skills Ability to function as a contributing team member and independently when needed High attention to detail required Effective technical writing skills and clear verbal communication skills Proficiency with MS Office Suite Experience or demonstrated understanding of environmental modeling and the application of quantitative analyses to solve environmental problems associated with contaminants in terrestrial, aquatic, and/or atmospheric ecosystems preferred Programming/Scripting proficiency in Python, SQL, Fortran, C# .Net, and/or Java script preferred About Tetra Tech: Tetra Tech combines the resources of a global, multibillion-dollar company with local, client-focused delivery in more than 470 locations around the world.
