Description The Esports Coordinator is a part-time position that will be responsible for assisting the Esports Facility Manager & Gaming Coach with monitoring and maintaining Samford's Esports facility. The position will assist the Esports Facility Manager & Gaming Coach in daily support of the facility. The Esports Coordinator will have the opportunity to play a foundational role in the development of Samford University's entrance into collegiate Esports.
Job Duties - Monitor the Esports facility and ensure that student guidelines are being enforced.
- Open and/or close the Esports facility when the Esports Facility Manager & Gaming Coach is out of office.
- Provide assistance to the Esports Facility Manager & Gaming Coach in supervision of part time student employees who are available to assist with basic functions of the space.
- Maintain a supportive environment that fosters personal growth and development, while upholding a culture which falls in line with Samford University's faith-based mission and community values.
- In collaboration with Technology Services, manage the Esports facility equipment, including gaming PC's as well as Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox game consoles.
- Assist the Esports Facility Manager & Gaming Coach with various event operations as needed, including scheduling, competitor management, stream setup, and more.
- Assist with the capture and identification of student trends and datapoints used to determine the direction of the Esports Program.
- Remain up-to-date with the latest Esports industry trends and news.
- Aid in moderating the Samford Esports Discord server.
- Assist as requested with oversight of practice sessions of official teams for various titles, including Valorant, Super Smash Bros., Rocket League, Overwatch, League of Legends and Fornite.
Qualifications - Gaming experience with titles such as League of Legends, Smash Bros, Valorant, Rocket League, Overwatch, Fortnite.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must be available some nights and weekends weekly.
Preferred Qualifications - At least 1 year of experience in Esports administration, coaching, and/or competition.
