Job Title: Elementary Music Teacher
Position Purpose: The Elementary Music Teacher is responsible for delivering comprehensive music education to students in elementary grades, fostering a love for music, and developing students' musical skills and knowledge.
Essential Functions - Plan and deliver engaging music lessons that align with curriculum standards and cater to the diverse needs of elementary students.
- Teach fundamental music concepts including rhythm, melody, harmony, notation, and music history through a variety of instructional methods.
- Facilitate choral and instrumental rehearsals, guiding students in practicing and performing musical pieces individually and as part of ensembles.
- Assess student progress through regular evaluations, feedback, and performance assessments, and provide support and interventions as needed.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and other staff members to integrate music into interdisciplinary lessons and school-wide events.
- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment where students feel encouraged to explore their musical abilities and express themselves creatively.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student progress, classroom activities, and upcoming events.
Additional Duties - Participate in departmental meetings and professional development activities as required.
- Serve on at least one school and/or district level committee
- Maintain and organize music materials, instruments, and equipment within the music classroom.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay updated on best practices in music education.
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress and classroom activities as needed.
- Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Equipment Use standard office equipment such as; personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.
Travel Requirements Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
Work Schedule Standard teacher work schedule as set forth in the Teachers' Contract.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Strong understanding of elementary music education principles, including music theory, performance techniques, and pedagogical strategies.
- Proficiency in playing and teaching a variety of musical instruments, such as piano, guitar, percussion, and recorders.
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students and adapt teaching strategies accordingly.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effectively interacting with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Organizational skills to manage classroom resources, plan lessons, and maintain accurate records of student progress.
- Creativity and enthusiasm for fostering a love of music and inspiring students to explore their musical talents.
- Commitment to creating a safe and supportive learning environment where all students can thrive academically and artistically.

Qualifications Profile Certification/License: - Colorado Certification as an Elementary Teacher or as required for position.
- Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.
Education - Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
Experience Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level and/or subject is a plus.
